The Dragon’s Bane Inn. Hardly the most salubrious of establishments, but still, better a night spent there than on the hard ground in the open. Within, [Character] saw that a game of dice was taking place, large sums of money being placed in the hands of luck. Fond himself of gambling, and with dice of his own in his pack, he was sorely tempted to join in, save that the possibility of losing the money entrusted to him hardly bore thinking about. Still, he could not help but watch, and to note, as a result, both the fact that one of the players, losing badly, was constantly fingering a weather-worn parchment, perhaps wondering whether to add its value to his stake, whilst another was clearly cheating, switching dice on his throw to a pair that were doubtless weighted.
