Long had (character) yearned to set eyes on the library of Tirkhor, its collection of tomes and manuscripts renowned throughout the lands of Gondor, second only, it was said, to those found in Minas Tirith itself. And, finally, she had succeeded in gaining an introduction. So that, presenting herself to the manor house, she was admitted within, following the steward along long corridors lined with rich tapestries, to emerge into a wide, high-ceilinged room, light flooding in through the glass roof to illuminate shelves curving round its circular walls, shelves lined with books, and piled high with scroll cases. Leading her through the room, past soft-spoken librarians lost to the task of reading, or of transcribing the more ancient manuscripts so that their knowledge would not be lost to the ravages of time, the steward knocked on a small door, before gesturing for her to enter. Within, she found a small study, the old woman behind its desk looking up as she entered, eyebrows raised in enquiry. She revealed the letter of introduction and began to discuss the possibility of reading some of the more ancient tomes.
