(Character) traveled long into the night in an attempt to shorten the travel for the following day. Finally, trail tired and ready for some much needed sleep, he began looking for a place to camp. Suddenly, a dark shape flew across the face of the full moon and landed ahead in the clearing for which he had been headed. As he slowly and cautiously advances toward the clearing, a man of great beauty seems to walk toward his place of concealment. The man apparently has no weapons and is smiling disarmingly.

Should the vampire be defeated in combat, the character will often receive a variable amount of gold and possibly a lost list spell. It's possible to be killed by this encounter if the result of the response is 'escape injured'. Vampires have a challenge rank of somewhere between 75-100. (Bobbins)

Jeremy Richman: To the best of my knowledge and experience, ALL allegiances escape unharmed by saying "Celgor" because he always says, "aha, you know my name and may be prepared for me" and flies off. I'm certain this it the case, FWIW.
In most cases, escape from a vampire will leave the character with one health point. Should the vampire be defeated in combat, the character will often receive a variable amount of gold and possibly a lost list spell. Celgor is the most common vampire met in the game. He appears as a beautiful man who smiles disarmingly, showing up at your campfire in the dead of night. The reaction Say "CELGOR" will allow a character to escape unharmed if that character is a Dark Servant. Upon review of a very old encounter list, I also had Free Peoples and Neutrals who Say "CELGOR" escaping unharmed. I don't know why I changed this to 'injured/killed'. For now, I'd suggest a change to your encounter lists for Dark Servants, and a cautionary note for FP/NT that doing the same thing may also allow them to escape. I'm told by a reliable source that the i.d. for Celgor is VAMPI, not CELGO (which stands for VAMPIre Celgor). So, if you want to transfer artifacts to him, locate him via spell, etc., use VAMPI as his i.d. I'm also told that Celgor may be the only vampire in the game. Whether this is true or not I don't know; I've never personally run into a vampire to tell you otherwise, although a number of people claim to have encountered a female vampire. If anyone has the answer, I'd appreciate hearing it.

My DS character with challange rank of 82 chose FLEE and defeated Celgor recovering 12,000 in gold and jewels and a curses spell.
There is also another (Less well documented) Vampire encounter. (This encounter may only be a 2950 encounter. If you had this in 1650 let me know, I'm not certain!)
June 2020 - FP responded 'Celgor' and escaped unharmed with the following respons. Celgor The word sounded loud in the quiet of the night. "The man paused and looked closely at her. "So. You know me. And in knowing me, you have perhaps prepared for me? But there will be other times!" Before she could make any response, the man stepped back and a large bat flew off into the night"
