On the air, there came to [Character] the baying of hounds, giving voice in the thrill of the hunt. But something there was that seemed strange about their calls, sounding too loud and too deep, and which sent a chill shiver down her spine. Curious, then, she moved with caution in the direction of the hunt, cresting the rise of a hill to look down on a pack of immense hounds, more like to ponies than dogs, working at the bidding of the hunt’s master, a darkly-cloaked figure whose features were lost within the deep cowl of his hood, and who sat astride a black horse whose flanks steamed and whose nostrils flared wildly. Ahead of the pack, but yet barely, [Character] could see a figure fleeing, a lady, fine dresses torn and tattered, and long hair streaming behind her as she ran for her life. Some instinct causing him to look upwards, the huntsman caught sight of [Character], and [Character] felt the man’s eyes fierce upon her, burning with malice. “Remove yourself from here,” the figure called, and his voice was the voice of doom. “Do not seek to come between Dwar of Waw and his prey.”
