Seeking to supplement his meal’s meager fare, [Character] had pressed far into the depths of the forest. Finding nothing edible, however, he was about to turn back, when ahead he espied a number of mountain ash berries, seeming to gleam in the darkening. Even as he reached for them, however, there came a sudden roar of anger, as the undergrowth came alive and a huge figure, some twelve feet high, and gnarled and twisted as if formed of the very trees about it, rose up before him. And [Character] fell backwards as he recognized it from stories told to him as a child; an Ent. “Hrurrrrrr!” it roared, the earth seeming to shake with its anger. “I am Skinbark. What think you that you are doing to my branches?!”
